7th Grade 3rd Trimester Project Supreme Court Case Project Due: 5/8/17 Project Topic due: 4/12/17 Throughout the course of America’s history, the Supreme Court has overseen dozens of trials related to everyday life. The verdicts of these cases have had a direct impact on the policies that local communities have to follow. For this project, you will research 1 landmark Supreme Court case that is directly related to an important Constitutional issue. Once you have selected your case, you will complete 1 of the 2 project options below.
Option 1: Write a report explaining the ruling of a landmark Supreme Court Case. Your report should be 3 pages in length (double spaced) and include the following: Title Page (not included in the 3 pages) Name of your case, when it took place, what state it began in The problem/issue brought before the Supreme Court How were Constitutional rights potentially violated? What was the Supreme Court’s ruling and how did they come to this decision? Impact the decision had on society Do you agree with this decision? Use evidence from your research to support your view Proper in-text citations and a bibliography
Option 2: A presentation on google slides which you will present to the class. You will present on May 8th. This presentation should be between 10-12 slides. You may use index cards during the presentation, but should not read directly from the slides. Please include: Title of Court Case (not included in 10-12 slides) Time/Location of Case Problem/issue brought before the Supreme Court How were Constitutional rights potentially violated? Decision/Impact the decision had on society Do you agree with this decision? Why or why not? Please credit your sources with a slide at the end.
