OPEN CURTAIN
Narration 1: Isaiah 40, 61 & 62
Narrator: For many years the people of the Lord cried out! Hoping and waiting that the Lord God would hear their call and act.
Narrator: The Lord God heard his people cry and promised that their days of sorrow would soon come to an end. The Prophet shouted…
Prophet: “People Prepare the Way for the Lord. Let all nations know that the Lord is coming to save them.”
Narrator: The Lord God will keep his solemn promise to his people.
Narration 2: Mark 1:1-5, Luke 3: 4-6, 16-17, John 1:6
Narrator: The Prophet Isaiah had foretold the coming of John the Baptist the voice that was shouting in the desert wilderness!
Narrator: God said, “I will send my messenger ahead of you, to open the way for you. Get the road ready for the Lord; make a straight path for him to travel.”
Narrator: God sent John to tell all the people about the light so that people everywhere would hear the message of God’s salvation and come to believe.
Narrator: Many thought that John the Baptist was the Messiah but John had come to preach the Good News and tell people everywhere to turn back to God.
John the Baptist: I am not the Messiah, but the Savior will soon be here.
CLOSE CURTAIN
Narration 3: Luke 1:26-38
Narrator: Mary, a young girl from a town called Nazareth in Galilee was engaged to be married to a man called Joseph.
Narrator: God had chosen Mary from all women to be the mother of His son Jesus.
Mary: May it be done to me according to your word.
(Mary’s angel comes out)
Narrator: One day an angel of the Lord appeared to Mary…
Mary’s Angel: Do not be afraid Mary. God has been gracious to you. You will give birth to a son. You will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of the Most High God.
Narration 4: Matt 1:19-24
Narrator: Joseph was engaged to Mary. But, before they were married, Mary found out that she was going to have a baby by the Holy Spirit. Joseph was a good man and not wanting to disgrace Mary, he made plans to call off the engagement quietly.
Narrator: However, while he was thinking about this an angel appeared to him in a dream and said…
(Joseph’s angel comes out)
Joseph’s Angel: Joseph do not be afraid. Take Mary to be your wife. It is by the Holy Spirit she has conceived. She will have a son, you will name him Jesus, because he will save people from their sins.
(Joseph “thinks” then leaves the stage.)
Narration 5: Luke 2: 1-5
Narrator: The Emperor Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout all of the Roman Empire. Everyone was told to go to their home town to be registered.
Narrator: Mary, who was soon to give birth, went with Joseph, from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Jerusalem in Judea.
CLOSE CURTAIN

Re-open when they are OFF stage
Narration 6: Luke 2:7
Narrator: When Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem they were very tired. The town was filled with people who had come to register for the census.
(People walk out to be counted) Emperor and Counter record their number.
Narrator: Mary would soon give birth to her child and needed a place to stay. So Joseph and Mary went from inn to inn looking for a place where God’s Son could be born.
(Knock, Knock, Knock)
Joseph: Do you have any room?
Innkeeper: No, but I have a stable out back. (Walk off)
CLOSE CURTAIN
Narration 7: Luke 2: 6-7, 11-13
(Outside of closed curtain.) As curtain opens…
Narrator: While they were in Bethlehem the time came for Mary to have her baby. Jesus was born in a humble stable, wrapped in cloths and laid in a manger.

Narration 8: Luke 2: 8-18
Narrator: Some shepherds looking after their sheep in fields nearby were told the great news by an angel of the Lord.
Narrator: Tonight in Bethlehem the Savior, Christ the Lord, has been born.
Narrator: Suddenly, a great army of angels appeared singing praises to God.
ANGELS APPEAR AND KNEEL
Narrator: The Shepherds left their flock and went to see this great thing that had happened.
SHEPHERDS APPEAR
Narration 9: Matt 2:7-11
Narrator: Three visitors had come from the East to the town of Jerusalem. They had seen his star rise in the east and had come to worship the newborn king. They followed the Christmas Star to the place where Jesus was born.
STAR and 3 WISEMEN PRESENT GIFTS AND KNEEL
Narration 10:
Narrator: And so Jesus Christ the Light of our world was born, and Heaven and earth rang out with Joy!
RING BELL – all begin to assemble for last songs.
